Attention all future Ghostrunners! We are extremely excited to announce our $10,000 Ghostrunner 2 Speedrunning Challenge in collaboration with Speedrun.com. Prepare yourselves to dash through Ghostrunner 2’s epic post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world.
Starting Date: October 26th, 2023
Duration: Two weeks, until 11:59PM UTC November 9th, 2023
This challenge will put both new and experienced Ghostrunners to the test. With an incredible $10,000 total available in cash prizes, competition is sure to be fierce. Here’s what you need to know:
Eligibility:
Must own a legitimate copy of Ghostrunner 2.
Open to players aged 18 and above worldwide, with the following exceptions: North Korea, Syria, Sudan, Cuba, and Venezuela.
Category:
The featured category in this challenge will be Any%. For you new speedrunners, this essentially means beat the game as fast as you possibly can within the limits of the game. This includes glitches and exploits – if you would like further clarification please refer to the category rules on the challenge leaderboard. Some updates may have to be made to the ruleset depending on the development of the route over the coming weeks – but the spirit of the category will remain the same. Any updates to the ruleset will be communicated to participants as they are made

Challenges:
Challenges themselves are nothing new to the speedrunning scene – but our developers have been hard at work recently building out a feature to officially support Challenges on Speedrun.com! Currently, these challenges are created internally, but our long-term aim is to enable Speedrun.com users to create their challenges, with or without prize pools. A Challenge leaderboard functions similarly to the regular leaderboards you’re already familiar with. However, we’ve made a few layout adjustments to cater to the time-sensitive nature of challenges and the inclusion of prize pools.
We are aiming to avoid any undue pressure on the Ghostrunner 2 moderation team – so to ensure a smooth process, all runs submitted to the challenge leaderboard will be screened and verified by either SRC staff or Ghostrunner 2 moderation team members volunteering for the challenge specifically. After the challenge concludes, SRC staff will collaborate with the Ghostrunner 2 moderation team to discuss the potential merging of challenge runs into the regular leaderboard once the moratorium period expires, respecting the mod team’s preferences

Some Advice:
The challenge lasts for two weeks, which may sound short, but it’s ample time. I recommend taking your time for your first playthrough, focusing on learning the game’s movement and practicing sections before diving into full runs. The fiercest competition for the top three spots typically emerges in the final week or even the last few days of the challenge, so there’s really no need to rush through your initial playthrough.

Jacks back! Ghostrunner 2 has been officially revealed! The sequel to the IGN nomination Action Game of the Year has been shrouded in secrecy until now, but we have some exciting details to share with you that are sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

Ghostrunner 2 explores the world of Ghostrunner, with the player visiting more places, not only Dharma Tower. The game’s story takes place one year after the events of the first game. The people of Dharma Tower are rebuilding, commerce begins to flow, and there is hope for the future. However, with the Keymaster dead, a power vacuum develops with deadlier enemies looking to conquer Dharma tower.
Ghostrunner 2 offers everything you loved about the original, but with even more exciting features. While the first game certainly had some challenging bosses, the sequel takes it to the next level. Get ready to face off against some of the toughest opponents you’ve ever encountered.
The new dialog system allows diving deeper into the lore and plot of GR2. Jack can interact with NPCs that are his friends from the Climbers faction. Plus, there is now a central HQ base of operations where Jack can take a break from missions.
With enhanced gameplay mechanics, more levels to explore, and epic boss fights, Ghostrunner 2 promises to be an exciting and thrilling adventure. With the new skills and powerful Ultimate abilities, players can be more creative during encounters and make the most demanding encounters more accessible. For instance, players can now block projectiles and attacks using the block feature, with each attack having its own cost in stamina. Additionally, there are new skills, such as Shadow, which allows Jack to trick enemies by leaving his copy on the casting spot and entering cloak mode.
Level Design is more versatile, and most of the arenas have multiple ways that can be played. There are many new enemy types, some of the old ones are also redone to fit the new gameplay better, giving players more freedom in choosing how to defeat the most challenging foes.
Cybervoids are utilized better, with the player having more freedom and fun time playing those sections, as the movement is non-limited as it was in Ghostrunner, and there are sometimes combat sections to provide a good intermission from regular levels.
One of the most exciting new features of Ghostrunner 2 is the addition of the motorbike! Some levels that feature the motorbike are far more complex and open world than typical Ghostrunner levels. This means that you’ll have to use your wits and your skills to navigate through these levels, and you’ll have to be on your toes at all times.
The game progression system has been completely redone, allowing players to experiment in various ways. The interactive environment also includes exploding barrels, destructible walls, and more, which can be used by the player. The game now offers more ways to play, not just the campaign. This means that you can climb on the leaderboards and compete against your friends in new and exciting ways.

They will speedrun for the fastest completion time using the same settings as the Wild Card and qualification phase. However, the one rule that is different for the Legendary Ghostrunner Challenge is that participants will have to set the settings to 1 life instead of 3 lives!
The Legendary Ghostrunner Challenge will be live on Twitch and YouTube on November 13 from 9AM to 3PM PST. Each participant will be hosting their own streams during the event.
Anyone can watch the Legendary Ghostrunner Challenge live by looking at the following links for streams with the title “Legendary Ghostrunner Challenge”.
All qualified participants will need to check in ASAP via Discord Mod Mail in the Ghostrunner server. We will then give all participants a special server title and grant access to the LGC Lounge channel where important event details will be shared.
For a participant to win the Legendary Ghostrunner Challenge they will need to complete the Wave Mod v 3 with the fastest time and only 1 life.
